Weather in Darjeeling is all things beautiful at present, as snowfall in Darjeeling has covered the beautiful Himalayan hill station after ten years. Sikkim too experienced snowfall at the same time. The last time that it snowed in these two regions was in 2008.

Snowfall in Sikkim and Darjeeling has turned the two regions into a winter wonderland, and a lot of tourists from Kolkata who went there were pleasantly surprised by the snow. Weather in Darjeeling is really cold at the moment, with temperature plummeting to 1 degree Celsius on the day of snowfall. It has been reported that Chowrasta received snowfall, along with some other parts of the hill town. Also, parts of Kalimpong, and Sikkim reported snowfall.

In Sikkim, tourists were stranded between Changu Lake and Nathu-la due to snowfall, and Sikkim police and tour operators are working to clear the road. Indian Meteorological Department in Gangtok has in fact reported that the snowfall would stop in a few days, but may resume after January 2.
On the other hand, Siliguri, which is at the foothills also experienced a massive dip in its temperature, as it dropped down as low as 5 degrees Celsius. While a lot of people are planning to head to the hills in order to experience the snow.

The hills in this side of India are definitely going through a festive mood. With New Year’s Eve round the corner, and snow fall covering the hills, everyone is pretty excited. Now we have to wait and see whether it resumes snowing after January 2.
